"...and I became the butterfly turned lilac that grew from a dying one"-Feeling Indigo

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about why I create and what keeps me creating and i think it's just the possibilities of what could be. After publishing "The Burned House Resurrects," I told myself that I would pump the breaks on writing about my dad and all the feelings that live there because it's time to accept and let go. Since then, I've created two new pieces for the Color Collection by The Gold Mined Collective all while trying to finish my book. One inspired by orange and the other, indigo. This was a different exercise for me, creating a poem based off of something as broad and general as a color. It resulted in two unbelievable pieces but one in particular has sparked a series, my indigo piece titled "Feeling Indigo."

My goal with this piece was to describe how I've been feeling lately, which is indigo and what that translates to--exhausted and wilted because I'm basically a plant lol Also, the idea that when we're in so much pain (psychically or emotionally) we become blue and eventually numb to it all. I experimented with creating a series in my recent book, where the word bones replaces the word memories. It was a cool experience and since then, I've been wanting to do it again but in a more cohesive manner. I ended up using my indigo piece as the inspiration and decided to take certain scenes or lines from the original piece and create poems out of them. I'm really getting into flower anatomy and symbolism as well as the relationship between the body/soul/spirit so I'm just riding the wave. I'm not sure if this is the start of a new book or not, even though I already have a title and idea but I'm a little afraid to commit to that right now lol I'm just hoping as the year progresses, so will this series and that it'll be even better than the first one.
